The Voluntary Action for Rehabilitation & Development (VARHAD) is a non-profit organization devoted in working towards enabling access to justice to the prisoners and their families through a broader humanistic value. Its engagement with the Criminal Justice System (CJS) over the last two decades have focused on connecting the family with the prisoner for a meaningful reformation, social integration, rehabilitation and development including socio-economic empowerment of their children and families. While VARHAD is a well-known entity in the field of Criminal Justice System, recently, VARHAD forged new collaborations and expanded its work in other developmental challenges particularly in the area of women, youth and farmer’s empowerment in the Vidarbha region in view of the growing needs to address developmental challenges. Promoting mental health, facilitating the women and youths for education, skill development, career opportunities and farmer’s empowerment have been VARHAD’s focus areas or work recently in addition to its intervention in the Criminal Justice System.
